The 'Django Unchained' actor and the 'Inception' star have joined the cast of the original Netflix movie, which will involve 'superpowers.'

AceShowbiz - Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt may get their own superhero costumes for their upcoming movie. The two actors have been tapped to star in Netflix's original film, which is described as a "heightened sci-fi action thriller."

Very little is known about the project, but Netflix's official Twitter account teased that the movie would feature "superpowers." The Hollywood Reporter further reports that the movie would be set in Portland during a drug epidemic.

Instead of killing the users, the drug in question gives them a range of superpowers. Gordon-Levitt reportedly will portray a cop, who is tasked with clearing the street from the drug. He, however, learns that the only way to fight the users is to take the drug himself.

Foxx's role is not revealed. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who co-directed "Paranormal Activity 3" and "Paranormal Activity 4", are on board as directors for the untitled project, which was previously called "Power". Mattson Tomlin wrote the script.

Screen Arcade's Bryan Unkeless and Eric Newman ("Bright") are producing, with Ray Angelic and Orlee Rose-Strauss executive producing. Filming is expected to start in October in New Orleans, while a release date is not announced yet.

Foxx won an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004's biographical film "Ray". He is also known for his roles in "Django Unchained", "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "Annie". Last year, he starred in "Baby Driver" and is next to be seen in Otto Bathurst-directed movie "Robin Hood", which is set to bow on November 21 in the United States.

As for Gordon-Levitt, he's a former child actor who appeared in such films as "Angels in the Outfield" and "10 Things I Hate About You". His notable roles include "500 Days of Summer", "Inception" and "Looper". He also starred as Robin John Blake in "The Dark Knight Rises" and as whistle-blower Edward Snowden in biopic "Snowden". He has filmed indie thriller "7500".
