AceShowbiz - Broadway star Marin Mazzie has lost her battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 57.

Her husband, actor Jason Danieley, confirmed the sad news to The New York Times on Thursday, September 13.

Marin starred in several Broadway shows and received Tony nominations for her roles "Passion", "Ragtime" and "Kiss Me, Kate".

She most recently starred in the 2015 Broadway revival of "The King and I" opposite Daniel Dae Kim, who paid tribute to his co-star on social media.

"The lights of Broadway all shine a little dimmer tonight," he wrote. "My heart goes out to Jason and all who were lucky enough to call her family or friend."

Broadway regular Harvey Fierstein also offered up a tribute via Twitter, calling Mazzie "beautiful, brave and inspiring".

The actress made her Broadway debut in the 1985 musical "Big River".

Her other notable stage credits include "Man of La Mancha", "Spamalot" and "Next to Normal". She also had a recurring role as Kathy Halverson in U.S. TV sitcom "Still Standing" from 2003 to 2006.
