AceShowbiz - Avril Lavigne's return to the music industry is coming closer. Days after announcing that she would be releasing new song "Head Above Water", the blonde songstress has given fans a snippet of the much-anticipated single.

Taking to Twitter and Instagram, Avril shared a short black-and-clip of her showcasing her vocals as scenes of raging waves flashes on screen. "I'm gotta keep the calm before the strom/ I don't want less, I don't want more," she rhymes over heavy piano melody. "Must bar the windows and the doors/ To keep me safe, to keep me warm."

"Head Above Water" will be released on September 19. It is among the new materials in the singer's forthcoming album in addition to marking her first single since 2015, the same year she went public with her battle with Lyme disease. Avril previously said in a statement that she wrote the song when she was convinced she was going to succumb to her illness.

Recalling writing the song "during one of the scariest moments" of her life, the Canadian songstress said, "I had accepted death and could feel my body shutting down. I feel like I was drowning. Like I was going under the water and I just needed to come up for air... Praying to God for Him to help me just keep my head above the water... I grew closer to Him. My mother held me. In her arms, I wrote the first song that I am releasing to tell my story."

The "Complicated" hitmaker went on saying that she hoped her new music could send support for others who were battling the disease. "I wish for this all to touch you, to bring you strength, to lift you up, to inspire and to encourage you...," she concluded her statement.
