The Imagine Dragons frontman writes on Twitter, 'There is never an ok time to say the word f****t I don't care who you are.'

AceShowbiz - Imagine Dragons star Dan Reynolds has blasted Eminem for using a gay slur in the lyrics to a track featured on his new album.

The rapper surprise-released Kamikaze on Friday morning, August 31 and quickly became a target of gay rights activists and some fans, who criticised him for using the word "f**got" on the track The Fall in a verbal attack on Tyler, the Creator, who previously took aim at Eminem for releasing his poorly received Shady XV compilation album in 2014.

Bon Iver star Justin Vernon, who inadvertently appears on the track, was quick to distance himself from the drama, insisting he attempted to urge producer Mike Will-Made-It to wipe the slur from Fall after learning a session he recorded with the hitmaker had been used on the tune.

And now Reynolds, a leading gay rights activist for his fellow Mormons, has taken to Twitter to slam Eminem for using "hateful" language.

"it's never ok to say a word that is filled with hate," he writes. "I don't care what year you were born in or what meaning it has to you. if it contributes to hate and bigotry then it is hateful. period. there is never an ok time to say the word fa**ot I don't care who you are."

Responding to Eminem fans who accused him of being over-sensitive, the Radioactive singer added: "it's disgusting to be told this is being 'overly sensitive' or 'millennial'. LGBTQ kids are TAKING THEIR LIVES after being bullied with homophobic slurs. it's not 'sensitive' to take a stand against a word that has been used to spread hate for years.

"I've lived enough of my life remaining silent on these issues because of fear or lack of education. I don't live in fear anymore. I still have lots to learn. but no. I will not be a silent voice with this platform I have been given."
