Norton's production company Class 5 is sued for a fire that cost the life of a firefighter and two tenants' homes.

AceShowbiz - Edward Norton's production company has requested a judge dismiss wrongful death lawsuit filed against them.

New York City firefighter Michael Davidson died while beating back flames in a Harlem building Norton and his Class 5 production team were using for a scene in his new movie Motherless Brooklyn.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, two tenants sued the firm for $7 million (£4.9 million), and alleged they lost their homes in the fire.

Earlier this year, Erica and George Cruz claimed Class 5 "misled the tenants into believing there had been a fire that had been extinguished".

They believe the alleged lack of communication contributed to the confusion during the situation and resulted in not only the death of 37-year-old first responder Davidson, but the destruction of many homes in the building.

However, lawyers for Class 5 have requested to dismiss the lawsuit.

Legal documents state the firm did "everything possible to immediately and accurately notify the building's tenants of the fire".

Class 5 alleged that the plaintiffs are "merely speculating" that Norton's movie was responsible for the fire while they occupied the building.

There is also an ongoing lawsuit against the production company for wrongful death from the family of Davidson.
