AceShowbiz - Bradley Cooper fell for his A Star Is Born leading lady, Lady GaGa, while the pair was revamping the classic movie.

The Silver Linings Playbook star makes his directorial debut with the film, and admits he was astonished by the Poker Face singer's acting talents.

During a joint press conference at the Venice Film Festival in Italy on Friday, August 31, Cooper turned to his co-star and revealed he fell in love with "her face and eyes" while they were making the movie.

He added, "I didn't know you were Italian. I remember when we first met, after 10 minutes we were eating homemade food that she cooked - I love to eat - and that was actually a huge bond that we both came from East Coast Italian-American families.

"So we had a real synchronicity on that level from our upbringing."

Gaga added, "It's (film) a story about love and about what Bradley refers to as the human plight of addiction. It was a remarkable experience for me."

The singer also recalled her tough start in showbusiness at the press conference, revealing she was told by music bosses she didn't have the right look to become a star.

"When I started out in the music industry and decided to be a singer and go for a professional career I was 19 years old, and I hit the ground running," she said. "I was dragging my piano from dive bar to dive bar to get jobs so that I could sing and perform for people.

"When I started out, I was not the most beautiful girl in the room. They (producers) wanted to take my songs and give it to other singers (sic), but I held on to them. They made suggestions about how I should look... but I didn't want to be viewed like other women, be sexy like other women. I wanted to have my own vision."

Gaga arrived at the festival, where her new film received its world premiere, in style on Thursday, on board a boat. Clutching a red rose and dressed in a figure-hugging black dress, she blew kisses to fans.
