The McCain family and fellow politicians bid their last farewell to the late senator at the National Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona.

AceShowbiz - The memorial service for U.S. Senator John McCain, which took place at the National Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday, August 30, was attended by family members, friends and fellow politicians. They were photographed bidding their last farewell to the late senator and the former presidential nominee.

McCain's wife Cindy was seen walking next to son John and guards as they escorted the flag-drapped casket. She donned a black long dress with a matching hat, a pearl necklace and black sunglasses, while her son wore his white pilot uniform.

Soccer star Larry Fitzgerald also showed up at the podium to pay tribute to the late politician. "Over the last several years, I had the privilege of spending time with Senator McCain. He didn't judge individuals based on the color of their skin, their gender, their backgrounds, their political affiliations or their bank accounts," the athlete told the audience. "He evaluated them on the merits of their character and the contents of their hearts. He judged them on the work they put in and the principles they lived by."

Another heart-wrenching photo showed former vice president Joe Biden, who is McCain's longtime friend, wiping tears from his eyes with a tissue as he delivered his eulogy at the podium. "The way I look at it, the way I thought about it was that I always thought of John as a brother," Biden recalled. "We had a hell of a lot of family fights. We go back a long way."

McCain's casket was brought to the Arizona State Capitol a day before, where many mourners waited in line to bid their last farewell. The casket will be taken to Annapolis, Marryland for a formal funeral.

McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in 2017 before he died at the age of 81 on August 25. Meghan previously opened up about her feelings on her father's health during her debut appearance on "The View".

"I spent the last three months while he was getting radiation and chemotherapy, and I can't believe I'm freaking crying already, but when you hear 'cancer,' a nuclear explosion goes off in your life, no matter who you are," she said, while trying to hold back tears. "And I didn't realize, because you can't realize until you experience it, how intense and disruptive and scary and hopeless and chaotic you feel all day long."
