AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck is back in rehab following a reported intervention staged by his estranged wife, Jennifer Garner.

Multiple reports suggest the actress showed up at Ben's Pacific Palisades home in California on Wednesday afternoon, August 22 and begged him to get help for his ongoing alcohol abuse issues.

She was then spotted leaving with the actor/director and a man believed to be a sober coach.

Insiders claim she agreed to drive him to an unnamed rehab facility.

Friends of the star tell Page Six Ben has been "struggling" with sobriety since breaking up with longtime girlfriend Lindsay Shookus. In recent days, the Justice League star has been linked to Playboy playmate Shauna Sexton, who is half his age.

Despite the fact they split in 2015, Garner and Affleck, who share three kids, have remained close, but Ben was noticeably absent from his estranged wife's Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling ceremony on Monday, August 20.

Sources tell TMZ and Us Weekly that Affleck didn't put up much of a fight during Garner's intervention, because he knew he needed help again after battling alcohol issues in the past.

After stopping at a fast food restaurant near the Pacific Coast Highway, Jennifer's car was last spotted heading for Malibu, California, where some of the finest rehab centres are located.

The drama comes 10 days after Affleck was spotted leaving an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. He completed a treatment programme after battling alcoholism in March, 2017, and took to Facebook to explain his actions, stating: "I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be.

"I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my coparent Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do.

"This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery."
