At the award-giving event, the new mom stunned in a gorgeous, off-the-shoulder dress from Nicolas Jebran which she paired with strappy pink heels.

AceShowbiz - New mum Cardi B teased fans as she opened the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards by pretending to cradle her baby in a pink blanket onstage.

The Bodak Yellow hitmaker stepped back into the spotlight on Monday night, August 20 for the first time since giving birth to her daughter Kulture last month, and she showed off her post-baby slim-down by gracing the red carpet at New York's Radio City Music Hall in a couture fuchsia gown.

The gorgeous, off-the-shoulder dress she chose to wear for her big comeback was custom designed by Nicolas Jebran, and featured a thigh-high slit. She completed the look with strappy pink heels and emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings, while debuting a chic bob.

She soon traded in that outfit for a strapless red dress as she took centre stage to launch the 2018 prizegiving, drawing the audience's attention by carrying a blanket-covered bundle of joy in her arms.

"I got a little surprise for ya...," Cardi smiled, as she went to unwrap the blanket - and then pulled out one of the night's Moon Person trophies instead.

"Welcome to the 2018 VMAs!" she laughed, before introducing the event's first performer, Shawn Mendes.

Cardi, who was up for a total of 12 accolades, was already a winner when she walked out onstage - during the pre-ceremony, she claimed the Song of the Summer award for her Bad Bunny and J Balvin collaboration, I Like It.
