The 'This Is Us' actor takes on the part of Trey, the boyfriend of Jennifer's Maya, in the Peter Segal-directed romantic comedy flick.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lopez handpicked Milo Ventimiglia to play her love interest in new movie "Second Act".

The superstar will soon begin promoting the romantic comedy, which sees her portray Maya, a woman who gets a chance to fulfil her career ambitions when a private finance firm is misled into believing that she's an accomplished consultant.

Milo takes on the part of Maya's boyfriend Trey in the Peter Segal-directed flick, and he has now shared that Jennifer thought he was the ideal candidate for the role.

"I got a call from my rep saying, 'Jennifer wants you and only you.' And I was like, 'Wow, that's flattering.' I'm very flattered by that," he recalled during an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Tuesday night (August 14), adding that fans of Jennifer's movies The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan will enjoy the upcoming project. "It's a great story, it's one of those Jennifer Lopez movies you want to go and watch."

Milo went on to divulge that he is a "huge fan" of Jennifer's work and that he even staged an attempt to meet her in person recently when he was attending an NBC panel to talk about his show "This Is Us" and the 49-year-old was in attendance for her crime drama Shades of Blue.

"Our dressing rooms, the doors were right next to each other. So, as she was getting ready to finish (on the panel), I'm casually standing by the door... 100 per cent lurking just so I could pass by because I'd heard a rumour that she liked 'This Is Us'. I kind of say, 'Hi.' And she just says, 'Love your show,'" the 41-year-old gushed. "She's a pro, she's so cool. She's got the heart of the artist, very giving with her time."

During the interview, Milo also briefly teased the upcoming third season of This Is Us, in which he plays the character of Jack Pearson, and explained that the programme will contain a lot of flashback sequences.

"What we're doing this season, Jack goes back to Vietnam and we explore that younger Jack and what he experienced in wartime. And then also, on the positive side, we also get to see Jack and Rebecca (Mandy Moore), budding love," he smiled.
