The 'American Idol' alum recalls wondering why the blonde beauty's name was included on her album booklet.

AceShowbiz - Kelly Clarkson originally had no idea that Christina Aguilera had written part of her hit song "Miss Independent".

The former "American Idol" contestant had huge commercial success with the tune, which was included on her 2003 debut studio album "Thankful". However, Kelly has now shared that her record producers at the time had decided to keep her in the dark over the fact that fellow popstar Christina was one of the original writers.

"My label at the time didn't tell me but I guess the producers and writers started it with her but then it wasn't finished so I ended up writing the rest and finishing it without even knowing she was on it or ever a part of it," she recalled during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" on Monday night (August 13). "I swear to God, I got my album booklet and I was like, 'Oh my God, my first album,' and then I was like, 'Why is Christina Aguilera on it? That's weird?' And I love her, so I'm like, 'Cool... but what?' It was a weird thing."

Record producer Rhett Lawrence first offered an early version of the tune to Christina with the intention of using it on her 2002 album "Stripped". But the "Beautiful" hitmaker didn't complete the bridge and ultimately decided not to perform it - with the track eventually ending up in Kelly's hands.

But in spite of the unusual situation, the Stronger singer now sees the funny side.

"She made good money, that was a pretty big song," the 36-year-old smiled.
