AceShowbiz - Edward Norton is facing a wrongful death lawsuit against his Class 5 production company over a fire that claimed the life of a New York City firefighter in March.

Michael Davidson died while beating back flames in a Harlem building Norton and his team were using for a scene in his new movie "Motherless Brooklyn", and now his picture house banner is under fire from the first responder's estate and widow, who claims producers' negligence was to blame for the tragedy.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, his wife Eileen alleges crew members made the set unsafe by removing "fire safety and prevention safeguards in the building during filming".

Davidson's widow also alleges production bosses allowed the building to be used for filming "without making sure it was up to code with safety requirements".

The estate is seeking unspecified damages.

Davidson, who leaves behind wife Eileen and four children, was found unconscious in the building after descending a stairwell and becoming separated from his fellow firefighters. He was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

Edward's movie firm has also been sued for $7 million (£4.9 million) by two New Yorkers who claim they lost their homes in the fire.
