Cheryl Walker recalls that her son was full of the Christmas spirit and looking forward to hanging out with his daughter, Meadow.

AceShowbiz - Paul Walker was planning to decorate a Christmas tree with his daughter just before his car crash death in 2013.

The late actor was killed when the Porsche Carrera GT he was a passenger in crashed and burst into flames on 30 November, hours after his last phone conversation with his mother.

Cheryl Walker tells People magazine her son was full of the Christmas spirit and looking forward to hanging out with his daughter, Meadow, now 19.

"We were having this good conversation, and he'd forgotten about an event he had," she recalls. "He got a text and said, 'Oh my gosh, I'm supposed to be somewhere'.

"I think so many people think, 'Oh, he was just a movie star who was killed in a car accident', but there was so much more to him. That was just a piece of who he was. He was an amazing man."

Cheryl is speaking to the media ahead of the release of a new TV documentary about her son, titled I Am Paul Walker.

She tells People the messages from her son's fans really helped her heal following his death almost five years ago: "I've gotten letters from people all over the world who said he made a difference in their lives," she smiles. "That is such a blessing. He's never forgotten."

I Am Paul Walker will also feature home videos from his childhood and interviews with the tragic star's friends and colleagues, including his Fast and Furious franchise co-star Tyrese Gibson, and director Rob Cohen.

The documentary premieres on the Paramount Network in the U.S. on 11 August.
