As Eddie Brock accepts the parasite living inside him, he uses the superpowers to fight the bad guys, including Carlton Drake who also turns into a symbiote.

AceShowbiz - Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for "Venom (2018)" and it wants to remind everyone that Venom is not a superhero. The video opens with Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock introducing himself as a reporter, who is investigating something that has gained his interest.

His investigation leads him to a lab, where he gets "taken" by an alien symbiote. Eddie seems to have a hard time to accept the "parasite" taking over his body, telling the symbiote, "We cannot just hurt people."

The symbiote gives him superpowers and Eddie finally accepts it. "That power? It's not completely awful." Calling themselves Venom, the titular character is seen scaring bad guys with his look and threats, though they're not necessarily violent.

Despite their actions that may define them as a vigilante, the trailer says, "The world has enough superheroes," so it's suffice to say that Venom is not one of them. Still, Venom is taking matters into his own hands when Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) also turns into a symbiote, Riot, forcing them into an epic duel.

Centering on the Spider-Man villain, "Venom" follows Eddie, who's investigating the mysterious Life Foundation. Its leader, Carlton Drake, has been testing the interaction of symbiotes on humans to create a higher being. When Eddie becomes infected with one of these alien creatures, he transforms into the anti-hero Venom.

Ruben Fleischer serves behind the lens, with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner providing the script. Michelle Williams stars as Ann Weying, Eddie Brock's ex-wife, with Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, Reid Scott and Scott Haze taking other roles. It is set for an October 5 release in the United States.
