AceShowbiz - Former "X-Men" star Rebecca Romijn is joining the latest "Star Trek" revamp.

Her "Star Trek: Discovery" casting was revealed by the TV show's star Anson Mount during a panel chat at Comic-Con in San Diego, California on Friday, July 20.

Mount, who has been cast as USS Enterprise Captain Christopher Pike, told fans they would be meeting his second-in-command, aka Number One, for the first time, adding, "I can't tell you who it is, but her initials are Rebecca Romijn. I'll let you figure that one out."

Fans who crammed into the annual convention's fabled Hall H were also treated to a new trailer, which hinted at the return of "Star Trek" favourite Mr. Spock, who has been played on the big and small screen by the late Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto.

Showrunner Alex Kurtzman confirmed Spock would be making an appearance in the new season of the show and also revealed that four short "Star Trek" films would be released ahead of the new season.

One will be directed by Rainn Wilson, who reprises his character Harry Mudd in the film, while the others focus on the "Star Trek" characters Craft, Saru, and Tilly.

Comedienne Tig Notaro, who is set to guest star in season two, moderated the Comic-Con panel, which featured Kurtzman, Mount, Sonequa Martin-Green (Commander Michael Burnham), Doug Jones (Commander Saru), and Anthony Rapp (Lt. Commander Paul Stamets), among others.
