The Academy Award-winning actress and the veteran singer share a friendly kiss as they reunite at the London premiere of the musical movie.

AceShowbiz - Meryl Streep and Cher stole the spotlight at the "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" premiere in London on Monday night, July 16. The 69-year-old actress and the 72-year-old singer locked lips on the red carpet at the Hammersmith Apollo.

The three-time Academy Award-winning actress and the veteran singer previously worked together on 1983's "Silkwood" and are reunited onscreen in the upcoming musical film. They shared a sweet embrace and a friendly kiss while stopping to pose for pictures together.

"CHER AND MERYL KISSING IS ALL I NEEDED," one fan reacted to the pair's kiss. Another commented, "Meryl and Cher officially broke the internet."

Streep was stunning in a royal blue gown paired with silver hoops for the occasion. Cher oozed rock glamor in an all-black ensemble while styling her black hair voluminous curls. They were joined by other cast members, including Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, Christine Baranski, Jessica Keenan Wynn and Alexa Davies, as well as ABBA band member Benny Andersson at the premiere.

In the movie, Cher plays a mother to Streep's character Donna Sheridan-Carmichael. The singer told PEOPLE that she was happy to play Streep's mother even though she is only three years older than Streep in real life.

"That doesn't make any difference," Cher said. "I was thrilled to death, and it was so silly. It was great fun, and I love her [Meryl], so it was perfect," she added. "It was great, and she was hiding watching me sing, and I was so excited. I didn't find out until afterwards-I would have been more nervous."

The sequel to 2008's "Mamma Mia!" follows Sophie (Seyfried) who is pregnant with Sky's (Dominic Cooper) child. Her relationship with Sky has been turbulent for some time, giving her cause to doubt that she can survive without her mother. With Tanya (Baranski) and Rosie's (Julie Walters) guidance, Sophie will find out more of Donna's past, including how she fronted The Dynamos, started her villa on the island from nothing, met each one of Sophie's dads, Sam, Bill and Harry (Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard and Colin Firth), and raised a daughter, without a mother to guide her.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters across the nation on July 20.
