AceShowbiz - Actress Rebel Wilson has filed an appeal in her $4.7 million (£3.5 million) defamation lawsuit against bosses at Bauer Media.

The Australian comedienne won the record-breaking sum in September (17) after she sued Bauer executives over a series of magazine articles, claiming she had lied about her age and background. She was originally awarded more than $4.7 million after a court in Victoria, Australia agreed that the stories had damaged her reputation and cost her movie roles.

However, last month, Bauer won their appeal against the size of the payout and officials at Victoria's Court of Appeal ordered Rebel to repay $4.2 million (£3.2 million) and 80 per cent of the legal fees incurred by Bauer's appeal.

The Pitch Perfect actress did not dispute the decision she should repay the damages, but on Wednesday, July 11 she launched an appeal with lawmakers at Australia's High Court to restore the original ruling, according to the New York Post's Page Six.

Her appeal application will be heard at a later date.
