Nicki Halsam, an old school friend of the Prince of Wales, called the Duchess of Sussex's family 'frightfully common.'

AceShowbiz - Someone is attacking Meghan Markle and her family, and father-in-law Prince Charles won't just let it slide, even if it means he has to confront his longtime pal. Nicki Halsam, an old school friend of the Prince of Wales, called the Duchess of Sussex's family "frightfully common."

Halsam said, "They're frightfully common. It would have been awful if that huge lump [referring to Meghan's father, Thomas Markle] had been there." He didn't stop there as he continued taking a snobby swing at Meghan's family, "The royals probably don't quite know how to deal with them. One person who wasn't common was her mother."

The interior designer also weighed in on Meghan's wedding dress. "I didn't very much like her dress. It didn't fit, among other things. It should have been made of thinner stuff, it seemed to be made of concrete."

This obviously doesn't sit well with Prince Charles. "Prince Charles will definitely be stepping in to have a word with Nicky about his comments concerning Meghan and her family, as it's just not on," a palace insider tells HollywoodLife.com. "Charles has been pretty disturbed by a lot of the press recently, and he thinks there's been a definite snobby undertone to some of the reporting, albeit very subtle."

The negative reports about Meghan and her family have also concern Prince Harry. "Harry has also been concerned over the seemingly never ending stream of negative stories about Meghan, it really does upset him, and he worries that the media are trying to tear apart Meghan, just like they did his mum, Diana," the insider continues.

"Charles and Harry may be limited when it comes to their influence over what runs in the newspapers and magazines, but they can try to control, to a degree, what their friends and family are feeding to the press, and with that in mind, you can guarantee Nicky will be getting a very firm talking to from Charles," says the source.
