The One Direction member has a heated encounter with his baby mama's ex-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini at The Chiltern Firehouse in central London.

AceShowbiz - Liam Payne apparently has nothing but respect for his former girlfriend Cheryl (a.k.a. Cheryl Cole) despite their split. The 24-year-old singer reportedly almost got into a fight with Cheryl's other ex Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini when the two ran into each other at celebrity hotspot Chiltern Firehouse in London on Friday, June 29.

According to The Sun, Liam threatened to fight the French playboy because he was unhappy with how Jean-Bernard treated Cheryl. An onlooker says Jean-Bernard was eating oysters when he noticed that this guy gave him dirty looks. "JB asked his friend why this guy was eyeballing him, and then he realized it was his ex’s fella," the eyewitness says.

The source adds, "Liam was snarling and beckoning him over a fight. There was a lot of gesturing, goading each other and making threats across the room." The restaurant staff reportedly "were worried JB would be provoked as he boxes every day."

The waitstaff had to intervene in order to prevent a physical altercation. "But he assured them he was not looking for a fight and would leave because he was getting on an early flight," the source says of Jean-Bernard. The 37-year-old eventually left without causing a scene.

He reportedly told his pals, "I'd never react to a kid in an elegant place like that. I'm obviously in his head for some reason. But I'd tell him everything is going to be OK. He needs a hug, not a punch."

Cheryl and Jean-Bernard got married in 2014 after a whirlwind romance and divorced in 2016. His run-in with Liam comes after the "Strip That Down" hitmaker split from the former Girls Aloud member.

Cheryl began dating Liam following her split from Jean-Bernard. They welcomed their first child together, a son named Bear in March 2017. They announced their split on July 1. "Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways," Liam posted on Twitter. "It's been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together."
