As Pine's character begins to dig deeper into the investigation, it seems pretty clear that there's someone who doesn't want him to continue investigating.

AceShowbiz - "Wonder Woman" director Petty Jenkins is reuniting with Chris Pine for a new TNT limited series titled "I Am the Night". The network has released a sneak peek at the upcoming miniseries based on an autobiography written by Fauna Hodel.

The trailer sees reporter Jay Singletary (Pine) trying to uncover the mystery behind Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a young girl who is searching for her identity after learning that she was adopted. Things take a dark turn when he realizes that it connects to the 1947 "Black Dahlia" murder. As Jay begins to dig deeper into the investigation, it seems pretty clear that there's someone out there who doesn't want him to continue investigating.

"You better remember where you are," King Eddy Saloon Patron (Alexander Kanellakos) warns Jay. "Some stories don't want to be told. Some stories will eat you alive." Meanwhile, Fauna is determined to solve the mystery as she says at the end of the clip, "I will find out everything. And I don't care what it breaks."

Formerly titled "One Day She'll Darken", the six-episode series follows the story of Fauna Hodel, who was given away by her teenage birth mother to a black restroom attendant in a Nevada casino in 1949. As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets to her past, she follows a sinister trail that swirls ever close to an infamous Hollywood gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel, a man involved in the darkest Hollywood debauchery and a suspect in the infamous "Black Dahlia" murder of Elizabeth Short in Los Angeles in 1947.

Besides directing the series, Jenkins serves as the executive producer along with Pine and Michael Sugar ("13 Reasons Why"). The script is written by Sam Sheridan ("SEAL Team") and Monica Beletsky ("Parenthood"), with Turner's Studio T producing.

Also starring Jefferson Mays, Dylan Smith and Shoniqua Shandai among others, "I Am the Night" is set to premiere in January 2019 on TNT.
