The 'Trap House' rapper and two other bystanders were shot outside the Cube Nightclub during Canada Day weekend.

AceShowbiz - Drake's opening act Smoke Dawg was killed in a street shooting on Saturday, June 30 outside the Cube Nightclub in Toronto's entertainment district. The 21-year-old rapper was rushed into a local hospital along with two other bystanders. Smoke then died due to his critical injuries and the death was confirmed by his friends on Global News, on Sunday. The two bystanders remain in the hospital.

The shooting incident took place during Canada Day weekend when many people went out to the streets to celebrate the national holiday. "We heard multiple, multiple gunshots. They came in two sets. There was a set of three to four, four to five and then a pause and then another set of literally three to four, four to five," one person reported to CP24.

Another witness described the condition as "chaotic" during the shooting. "The scene just turned chaotic, there were people running everywhere, there were vehicles just trying to get out of the way," the witness recalled. "Down on Peter Street we just saw a mass of tourists, normal Saturday traffic on Queen Street, basically running scared for their lives. It was intense, it was very chaotic."

According to Toronto police, who came to Queen Street after there were reports of gunshots fired around 8 P.M., the suspect may have fled the scene in a black SUV or a white car. A woman said that she saw a black SUV stormed off from the area before a streetcar driver told people to hit the floor. "When I heard the first gunshot I looked outside because I was in a streetcar and I saw one guy in a white shirt, a black man, fall to the ground. I saw a black SUV with tinted windows storm off," she claimed. "Then there was four more gunshots after that and we all went down to the ground as we were instructed by the streetcar driver."

Meanwhile, Drake, who toured with Smoke in February and March 2017, took to Instagram Story on July 1 to mourn Smoke's death. He posted his picture with Smoke during a concert. "All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating," he wrote. "I wish peace would wash over our city. So much talent and so many stories we never get to see play out. Rest up Smoke."

Smoke, whose real name is Jahvante Smart, joined Drake's "Boy Meets World" tour along with other members of Halal Gang. He is known for his song entitled "Trap House".
