AceShowbiz - Actress/rapper Queen Latifah has signed on to executive produce a travel documentary series.

Friends in Strange Places, developed under Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment company, will centre on comediennes who tour the world with their friends, according to Variety.

"There are so many funny, brilliant women in this industry, and - with plenty of successful male-driven travel series out there - a comedic docu-series about sisterhood and adventure is just the type of uncharted territory we want to plant our flag in," Latifah says. "I'm so excited to develop a show that not only elevates and highlights female comedians, but also brings them together for an amazing time that will also be a trip for viewers."

News of the show comes a week after it was announced that the 48-year-old star is launching an initiative to help female directors fund and distribute their projects. The Queen Collective will develop productions across TV, film, and commercials.
