The visuals features the leader of Girls' Generation throwing punches and bashing hammers at her enemies.

AceShowbiz - If you're looking for the usual pure Taeyeon, you won't be able to see it this time. The leader of Girls' Generation shows a new side of her when she released the music video for her new song "Something New" on Monday, June 18.

The visuals starts off with the singer hitting the red carpet in a blue magenta one-sleeve gown. A bodyguard walks beside her to make sure that she's protected from the rain as she greets her fans through Instagram Live. Things take a darker turn once Taeyeon enters an elevator inside the building. She gets into a fight with a man, throwing punches and bashing hammers.

When Taeyeon thinks that she can finally relax in her hotel room, a maid attacks her all of sudden. Taeyeon obviously wins after she throws a flower vase at the maid and punches her in the face. The video ends with the "Why" singer going to a beach to throw suitcases off a cliff and shoots them. She then runs into the ocean barefoot.

The song itself features a motivational message saying that people should all just do what they want and be the way they are. "You're special just the way you are/ Why does it matter if you're a little different?" she sings over jazzy instrumentals. "You don't need to change yourself for others/ Color the world with the colors you like/ I like things just the way they are."

"Something New" is the title track off her fourth EP, which was released on June 18. It is her first album of 2018 and the follow up to "This Christmas: Winter Is Coming", which peaked at No. 6 on Billboard's World Albums chart. Besides the title track, the album features four other tracks, including "All Night Long" featuring NCT's Lucas and piano-driven pop ballad "Circus".
