AceShowbiz - Actress Debra Messing is teaming up with bosses at U.S. discount retailer TJ Maxx to help women find their "individual" style.

The Will & Grace star is joining the The Maxx You Project, aimed at bringing women together to empower one other about their unique fashion choices.

Debra explains she jumped at the chance to work with executives at the company because she has been shopping at the stores since she was young.

"My mother took me to TJ Maxx every other week to scour the racks my entire childhood," she says.

"When I heard they were doing The Maxx You project it just felt like the perfect marriage because it's all about supporting and encouraging women's individuality and this year, what's most exciting to me, is that it's now about embracing community in order to lift women up," she adds.

As part of the campaign, which kicks off Tuesday, June 19, The Maxx You Project's organisers are hosting workshops and a Facebook group to help women connect with each other and offer up encouraging solutions when it comes to finding their individuality.

"You're bringing all of these women together to empower each other to co-create strategies so that you can progress more quickly for attaining your dreams," the actress says. "It's a multi-pronged initiative, which I think is really smart".

"I really believe in the power of women and what women can do, when they get together and women can lift each other up in a way that nothing else can," she continues.
