Kate had surgery just three days later, and luckily, the growth, which she claims was the size of a lemon, wasn't cancerous.

AceShowbiz - Actress Kate Walsh had a momentary feeling of spiritual disconnect after learning she had a "very large" brain tumour in 2015.

The "Grey's Anatomy" star, 50, sought medical attention three years ago, after suffering a series of worrying health issues, including constant fatigue and cognitive concerns, as well as a physical dip in the right side of her body.

Some of Kate's friends and colleagues initially thought she was struggling with depression following the axe of her TV show "Bad Judge", but she realised there was a more serious cause to her concern.

"I've had shows cancelled, (and I thought), 'This doesn't feel like that,'" she recalled on the DENtalks Podcast.

"My assistant told me, 'I thought you were just going crazy.' Because he had only known me working, so he was like, 'Oh, maybe this is what it's like when she's not working.'"

Kate had to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, and as she prepared for the results, she feared she would be diagnosed with "early onset Alzheimer's or some sort of macular degeneration".

"As soon as I was done, the MRI tech was like, the radiologist wants to see you. And she says... '(It) appears to be a very large... we don't know until they get in there, hopefully (it's a) benign brain meningioma, brain tumour,'" she shared. "In that moment I left my body."

Kate had surgery just three days later, and luckily, the growth, which she claims was the size of a lemon, wasn't cancerous. She has since made a complete recovery, and the health crisis has helped her put her priorities in perspective.

She said, "After you survive something like that, you're like, 'Oh yeah, what's important?'".
