AceShowbiz - Titanic actor Mark Chapman has been arrested for allegedly trying to strangle his girlfriend.
Chapman, whose character dies at the end of the epic Kate Winslet movie, reportedly became enraged as his partner of five years, Tara Pirnia, dumped him in March and asked him to delete intimate material of her on his cell phone, according to an affidavit from the Travis County Sheriff's office, obtained by TMZ.
In the legal papers, Tara claims the actor threw her on the ground and used both hands to grab her around the neck and squeeze her throat, telling her, "I want you dead."
She alleges he only let go after she bit his hand and fled.
Although he moved to California the next day, she reported the incident to police officials, stating she feared he would return to kill her and then himself.
He was arrested for assault and he has been ordered to stay at least 200 yards away from his ex.
