The action-packed footage sees Jennifer's character transforming into an urban guerilla after her husband and her daughter are slaughtered right before her eyes.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Garner is going back to action hero mode in the first trailer for her upcoming movie "Peppermint". The action-packed 2-minute footage sees Jennifer's mom character Riley North transforming into an urban guerilla after her husband and her daughter are slaughtered right before her eyes.

The trailer opens with Riley having a blast with her family at an amusement park. Things take a tragic turn when her husband and her daughter were killed in what appears to be a drive-by shooting at a carnival. She tries to seek justice by bringing the case to the court, but due to the lack of evidence and the crooked system of cops and judges, the murderers are set free.

That's when Riley decides to take a revenge against the drug cartel on her own. Immesing herself in the world of DIY assassin training for five years, Riley is back with a strong resolution. "Corrupt judges, dirty cops, what I want? I want justice," she says somewhere in the trailer. "I will kill every one of you," she later vows.

Directed by Pierre Morel ("Taken") from a script by Chad St. John, "Peppermint" also stars John Ortiz, John Gallagher Jr. and Juan Pablo Raba. Meanwhile, Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Eric Reid and Richard Wright are serving as producers.

Jennifer takes to her Instagram account to share the trailer. "In all honesty, I'm terrified to show this to anyone. But I worked so, so hard, and I'm really proud of this movie, and well, heck. Here you go. Meet Riley North. She's a bad ass. #PEPPERMINTmovie #september7th #thesystemfailed #shewont," the "Alias" alum writes in the caption.

"Peppermint" arrives in U.S. theaters on September 7.
