AceShowbiz - Bono has credited his bandmates in U2 with saving his life. The rocker insists he'd be dead if he hadn't found a family in the high school band that went on to become megastars.

Asked if there was anything about The Edge, Larry Mullens or Adam Clayton that annoyed him during a recent taped interview for "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", Bono said, "It's no joke for me to say it, nothing drives me crazy about them in any real sense, because genuinely, they kinda saved my life."

Calling himself a motherless "latchkey kid" and a "scavenger," the "One" singer added, "I felt, as a teenager, I had no reason to exist until I found them (bandmates)."

He also told Ellen that his decision to join U2 came the same week he officially started dating his now-wife, Ali Hewson.

"That was a good week," he laughed. "I got two good decisions right; everything else I screwed up!"

During his appearance on the show, alongside bandmate The Edge, Bono recorded Ellen and her mostly female audience singing along to the group's "Women of the World Take Over" anthem, promising to air the group sing-along on an upcoming U2 tour date.

Bono and The Edge also had a bit of fun on the show, appearing in a skit as DeGeneres' useless assistants, calling ahead for her soup of the day request and taking down coffee orders for the comedienne and talk show host and her team of writers.

U2 are currently touring North America on the Experience + Innocence Tour.
