'Avengers: Infinity War' Surpasses Box Office Estimates in Opening Weekend

The latest Marvel superhero team-up movie also shatters global box office record, beating out 'The Fate of the Furious'.

AceShowbiz - "Avengers: Infinity War" is enjoying even more success after surpassing previous box office estimates in its opening weekend. On Sunday, April 29, it was reported the superhero film, which stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chadwick Boseman and several others, had grossed approximately $250 million, beating out the previous record holder, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which earned $248 million in its opening weekend in North America in 2015.

However on Monday, it was revealed the blockbuster grossed $258.2 million. The film has also surpassed previous international totals of $380 million with $382.7 million.

Its global total now stands at $640.9 million for the opening weekend, which beats out the previous record held by "The Fate of the Furious" with $541.9 million.
