Daytime Emmy Awards 2018: 'Days of Our Lives' Wins Big

The soap opera walks away with 5 awards including Outstanding Daytime Drama.

AceShowbiz - The winners of the 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced. It was revealed at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sunday, April 29, that "Days of Our Lives" was the big winner, bagging 5 awards including Outstanding Daytime Drama.

The soap opera won the category after besting fellow nominees including "General Hospital", "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless". In addition to Outstanding Daytime Drama, "Days of Our Live" earned some stars awards with James Reynolds, who plays Abe Carver, being named as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Meanwhile, co-star Greg Vaughan was announced as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his stunning perfomance as Eric Brady. Greg bested fellow cast member Chandler Massey, who portrays Will Horton.

The long-running soap opera also nabbed awards of Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team and Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team. In both categories, "Days of Our Lives" beat the likes of "General Hospital", "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless".

The trophy of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category went to "The Young and the Restless" actress Eileen Davidson. Meanwhile, co-star Camryn Grimes snagged the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Mariah Copeland.

Also announced that night were the winners for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Hosts, Outstanding Entertainment News Program and Outstanding Culinary Program. Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley from "The Real" were the winners of the former category. "Entertainment Tonight" won the award of Outstanding Entertainment News Program with "A Chef's Life" walking away with the award of Outstanding Culinary Program.
