AceShowbiz - Allison Mack, who is known for her role as Chloe Sullivan on "Smallville", was arrested on Friday, April 20, in New York for alleged sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy. She was indicted for an alleged leading role in the NXIVM sex cult, which leader Keith Raniere was arrested late last month in Mexico.

The U.S. Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of New York stated that both Mack and Reniere were accused of branding their victims and forced them to participate in sex acts through the various self-help programs that Raniere established within his umbrella organization, NXIVM. It was also said that the cult is based in Albany, New York, and has been operating in the United States, Mexico, Canada and South America.

"As alleged in the indictment, Allison Mack recruited women to join what was purported to be a female mentorship group that was, in fact, created and led by Keith Raniere," United States Attorney Richard P. Donoghue said. "The victims were then exploited, both sexually and for their labor, to the defendants' benefit. This Office and our law enforcement partners are committed to prosecuting predators who victimize others through sex trafficking and forced labor."

The statement also claimed that Mack was allegedly "one of the women in the first level of the pyramid immediately below Raniere." She was said to have "slaves" underneath her and was accused of directly or implicitly required two women "to engage in sexual activity with Raniere. In exchange, for this, Mack received financial and other benefits from Raniere."

"Today we announce an additional arrest, and an indictment, in a case that brought to light an inconceivable crime," FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. added. "As this pyramid scheme continues to unravel, we ask anyone who might have been a victim to reach out to us with information that may further our investigation."

The actress is set to be arraigned on Friday before United States Magistrate Judge Cheryl L. Pollak, while Raniere's arraignment hasn't determined yet. Should she be convicted, both Mack and Raniere will each face mandatory minimum sentences to life in prison.

According to Page Six, Mack pled not guilty. However, a representative for Mack declined to comment on the arrest.

Mack previously addressed her connection with Raniere in her website. "Over the course of several years, Mr. Raniere mentored Allison in her study of acting and music," the website stated.

In addition to starring on "Smallville", Mack previously appeared on FX's "Wilfred" and FOX's "The Following".
