AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj would love it if people stop dragging her into Safaree Samuels's nude video leak scandal. The "No Frauds" raptress reportedly wants to be known for her music, not this kind of mess.
"Nicki started seeing things changing with her career trajectory right around her feud with Remy Ma," says a source to HollywoodLife.com. "She doesn't like the path it's taking and wants to be recognized for her music and not who she is dating or feuding with."
The source goes on saying that the 35-year-old Young Money femcee "doesn't want people to think that Cardi B has taken her spot either." According to the source, "Nicki has had to battle before and has battled through the Lil Kim comparisons to make her own name in hip hop and now she wants to and feels she has to reinvent herself so she doesn't fall into being a tabloid joke."
With that being said, it's understandable if the Trinidad-born beauty is furious "when she is connected to stuff like Safaree and his drama." The source reveals, "It really drives her nuts. She'd rather be considered a talent first and always."
Previous report also claimed that the "Superbass" rapper was not feeling bad for Safaree, from whom she split back in 2014. In fact, she seemed to believe that Safaree leaked the video himself to get more publicity. "At this point she just feels a mixture of pity and embarrassment for him. Nicki feels like Safaree will do anything for publicity these days," said an insider.
"Safaree's so proud of his junk, and he's always been that way, " added the insider. "He used to send Nicki a ton of explicit pics and videos from the twelve years they dated."
