Amidst rumors that they could split 'within weeks,' the couple's overzealous behavior at the event cast some doubt on their relationship again, as friends say that the love-fest was 'just a stunt.'

AceShowbiz - Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne appeared to squash rumors that their relationship is on the rock when they attended the BRIT Awards on Wednesday evening, February 21 together. Despite mounting speculation over the status of their relationship, the couple looked smitten while hitting the award show that was held at London's O2 Arena.
Cheryl even hinted at her wild sex life with Liam, with whom she has a son named Bear. It all began when host Jack Whitehall decided to pick them out for an on-air interview for the ITV viewers at home. Talking about Liam's performance of his "Fifty Shades Freed" song "For You" later in the night, Jack cheekily referenced the erotic thriller's S&M theme.
"You're performing later, the song from the 'Fifty Shades' film, it's going to get quite racy... is there a safe word?" the 29-year-old host asked. Liam then motioned towards Cheryl, saying, "She knows what the safe word is," to which the former Girls Aloud star responded, "Don't stop!" leaving the host stunned. "Wow, Ok... It's time for a break!" Jack said.
It was a rare joint appearance by the couple since the birth of their son 11 months ago, and the comedian asked, "How's date night going so far?" The 24-year-old One Direction member responded, "Going great so far," as his 34-year-old baby mama looked on silently. "We're having a good time."
Later that night, Cheryl and Liam continued to pack on the PDA when hitting the show's after-party. Their overzealous behavior, amid rumors that their two-year romance would be over "within weeks," cast some doubt on the relationship again though, as friends told The Sun that the love-fest was "just a stunt."
A source revealed to the publication that Cheryl and Liam were trying to hide their relationship woes with an overzealous display. "Cheryl and Liam's friends say things aren't good between them and have made it clear their relationship will soon end," said the insider. "But with a single to promote, Liam was not going to miss the opportunity, and having Cheryl with him gives him even more limelight."
"They are trying to work things out and want to be together for their son Bear's first birthday next month," the insider added, "But things are very strained."
Reps for Cheryl and Liam have not commented on the report.
