'We did, yeah. We've talked about it... it is 'Star Wars' so who knows what might happen,' Serkis says about the possibility of including Snoke's backstory in 'Episode IX'.

AceShowbiz - Snoke's fate was sealed in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" when Kylo Ren sliced him in half to take over the throne. But in "Star Wars", one could expect the unexpected, according to star Andy Serkis who played the antagonist character.

As Snoke's death leaves questions about his past, including how he knew a lot about the Force, unanswered, Serkis was recently asked about the possibility of including Snoke's backstory in the upcoming "Star Wars Episode IX". And his answer was surprising as he hinted that it's possible.

"We did, yeah. We've talked about it," he said, confirming that he had had discussions with directors J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson about Snoke's past. "We wanted to keep it a mystery and, you know by the way, it is 'Star Wars' so who knows what might happen. Without giving anything away."

Serkis also hinted that Snoke's death is not the last for the character when asked about his reaction to the villain's demise. "Look, it's 'Star Wars', so you never know how life, or whether life can be come back to or not. Whether you can be resuscitated or brought back," he told /Film.

He added, "I was shocked. Dramatically, it felt absolutely right for that moment in the film, so I didn't question it. I just think it's a very, very important scene, so I didn't question it. But I do, I know it's left fans feeling like, that they were really searching for something there. And what I'm saying is, who knows?"

Serkis, however, claimed that he hadn't spoken with Abrams who has signed up to return to direct "Episode IX" after introducing Snoke in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Abrams was announced to replace Colin Trevorrow as director for the upcoming installment of the sci-fi film franchise in September last year. Lucasfilm later made an adjustment to the release date, moving back the pic from May 24, 2019 to December 20, 2019 for its U.S. release.
