Mariah Carey is currently tangled up in a legal battle with South American promoters over canceled tour dates. Back in October 2016, Carey took to Twitter to apologize to her fans in South America for canceling her concert dates there. Carey added that the promoters were to blame for that.
"Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be cancelled My fans deserve better than how some of these promoters treated them," so she wrote. The "When You Believe" hitmaker then sued the promoters, claiming that they failed to pay her in full and damaged her brand as a result of the cancellations.

In retort, the said promoters, who go by Fenix, are reportedly hitting back with a lawsuit of their own. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, they accused the songstress of bailing both Argentina and Chile shows without any notice and reason. They are seeking at least $500,000 in damages for each of the missed shows.
Furthermore, TMZ reports that Carey was already paid nearly 75 percent of what was agreed upon the concerts, approximately $703,100. Fenix says that it was the standard practice whenever they've worked together in the past. Thus, Carey's previous statement was "knowingly false and defamatory."
In total, Fenix is seeking at least $3 million for the fee she was paid for the performances and "irreparable images" to their "reputation among both concertgoers and musical artists." The case is still ongoing, and reps for Carey have not responded to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit aside, the New York-born songstress was recently spotted on a romantic dinner date with her boyfriend Bryan Tanaka at Nobu in Malibu. The couple, who reportedly planned to get engaged, looked beaming as they flaunted public display of affection. While Carey opted for a glamour look with a Louis Vuitton cape and a black mini dress, Tanaka donned a plain black T-shirt and a leather jacket.
