One of the parents, Karey Fitzgerald, wishes that all parents should be notified about the event and given a choice to send their children to school or to keep them home.

AceShowbiz - Ivanka Trump intended to make a pleasant surprise when she visited Norwalk Early College Academy on Monday morning, December 18. However, her visit, which meant to be educational, turned into a chaos when angry parents showed up to the school and abruptly pulled their children out of class.

The parents, who reportedly oppose Donald Trump's policies, said that they received little information about Ivanka's visit. "This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons," one of the parents, Karey Fitzgerald, said. "I think we should have had the choice to send our child to school or keep them home."

It appeared that the parents were not the only ones who were upset over the First Daughter's visit. An alumni of the academy, Monica Mercuri, also expressed her disapproval. "Never in a million years would I think Ivanka Trump would come to my high school," she shared in her now-deleted tweet. "Hope the diversity of our students and our large immigrant population doesn't scare her away."

Despite the backlash, 36-year-old Ivanka, who was joined by IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, was still able to discuss the importance of modern skills and career education at the school with around 10 students. "To see the passion and enthusiasm for bringing real life experienced through internship creates this really beautiful virtuous angle," she said.

The First Daughter's visit to the school was part of her campaign to promote and fund STEM and computer science fields, as it was reported that Ivanka made the fields a priority within Donald's administration.

Ivanka has visited several schools to promote the fields and try to get girls more interested in it. During her visit to Middleburg Community Charter School in Virginia, she told the students, "Right now, girls only make up 22 percent of the computer science field, but we're going to change that, right, girls?"
