The 'Empire State of Mind' hitmaker surprised the audience when he suddenly covered Kanye's 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' during the show.

AceShowbiz - It seems Jay-Z really wants to reconcile with Kanye West. During the Chicago stop of his "4:44" tour on Tuesday, December 5, the "Empire State of Mind" rapper sent a heartfelt message to the "Gold Digger" hitmaker.

Jay surprised the packed audience when he suddenly covered Kanye's "Can't Tell Me Nothing". Moreover, in the middle of the performance, he told the DJ to pause the music for a moment to give a shout out to Kanye.

As the crowd collectively screamed, Jay said, "Shout out Kanye West. Peace and love," which was followed by a massive applause. "That was for you, Chi-town," he continued. He also gave a shout out to a few other rappers, including Chance the Rapper.

Jay's shout out to the 40-year-old rapper came after he recently revealed to The New York Times that he and Kanye are on speaking terms again. "I [talked to] Kanye the other day, just to tell him, like, he's my brother. I love Kanye. I do. It's a complicated relationship with us," he said.

"We both love and respect each other's art. So it's like, we both -- everyone wants to be the greatest in the world. But it's gonna, we gonna always be good," he continued. "We just need to speak about it. But there's genuine love there."

"The Story of O.J." rapper also admitted to cheating on wife Beyonce Knowles in the interview. Fortunately, they managed to make things work again in their rocky relationship thanks to music. "We were using our art almost like a therapy session," he explained.

"And we started making music together," Jay continued. "And then the music she was making at the time was further along. So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on." He added that working on their collaborative album led to "4:44".
