AceShowbiz - Congratulations are in order for Julia Stiles and husband Preston J. Cook for becoming new parents. The "Jason Bourne" actress announced via Instagram on Tuesday, November 21 that she gave birth to their first child, whom they named Strummer Newcomb Cook, last month.
Sharing a cute photo of Strummer's tiny hand, Julia wrote in the caption, "Strummer Newcomb Cook, born October 20, 2017. Thanks and ever thanks to the extraordinary Doctors, Nurses and staff at Mount Sinai for helping bring this utter joy into our lives. [emojis] 'Hello, World!' "
Rep for Julia confirmed in June that the actress was expecting her first child with Preston. The 36-year-old actress debuted her baby bump that same month when she stopped by Magic FM's Nick Snaith in London sporting a black fitted dress.
She also showed off her growing baby bump on Instagram in early August, sharing a mirror selfie of her in a black-and-red fitted dress. "Allright, I couldn't resist," so the "Silver Linings Playbook" actress captioned the snap.
Julia and Preston first met on the set of 2015's "Blackway", where Cook worked as a camera assistant. The couple got engaged that same year on Christmas Eve at a private residence in Isla Grande in Colombia, according to PEOPLE. "That's where we got engaged," the actress told the magazine.
"All around, it was a really wonderful trip," she continued. "We stayed on an island that was really beautiful and there was a lot of great snorkeling. The city was really nice, too, but because I live in the city the natural scenery was really great."
She said at the time that she and Preston were "really slow on the wedding planning." She added, "I'm not getting a ton of marital advice... Somebody told me about radical empathy, but I'm still trying to figure out what that means. I'm trying to figure out what makes it radical."
The couple announced in September they got married over the Labor Day weekend. Sharing a photo featuring her bulging baby bump in her wedding dress, Julia jokingly said in the caption they had a "shotgun wedding."
