AceShowbiz - You can either rejoice or sob. One of K-Pop's biggest power couples, Lee Min Ho and Suzy, have broken up after dating for almost three years. A local media outlet, Ilgan Sports, first broke the news on Thursday, November 16.
In response to the report, Suzy's agency JYP Entertainment said in a statement, "We are currently looking into it." MYM Entertainment which represents Min Ho added, "We are looking into Lee Min Ho and Suzy's break up."
Both agencies later confirmed the news. JYP Entertainment said, "It's true that they have broken up. They have decided to remain good friends in the industry." MYM Entertainment also stated, "It is true that they both broke up recently. The reasons and exact time period is a personal matter so we cannot confirm that. Please understand."
Min Ho and Suzy were confirmed to be dating in March 2015, after photos of the two spending time together in London surfaced. They were rumored to have broken up several times, but they denied them, saying that their relationship was still strong. In April, it was reported that they celebrated their second anniversary as a couple.
Suzy once said when asked when she first fell in love with Min Ho, "I can't really say for sure but he is very understanding and caring. He is also a very warmhearted person and I think that's why I began to fall for him."
An industry insider recently revealed how the two started dating. "Lee Min Ho always had a thing for Suzy and wanted to meet her through some mutual friends. But Suzy's side respectfully denied the request," the source said. "Suzy also did have interest in dating and talked with some men but due to her own image in the industry, she was always careful of scandals."
The source added, "It is speculated that they eventually connected through two mutual friends who are both close to Suzy and Lee Min Ho. Lee Min Ho finally got the chance to meet Suzy and fell deeply in love. Lee Min Ho continuously went after her in romantic ways." It was said that Min Ho's persistence eventually won Suzy over.
Min Ho is currently serving in military as a public service worker. The "City Hunter" actor will be discharged from the military in 2019.
Suzy, meanwhile, stars opposite Lee Jong Suk on "While You Were Sleeping", which currently airs on SBS.
