Artist of the Week: Pink
Music

The 'What About Us' songstress debuts atop Billboard 200 chart with her latest effort, marking the biggest debut for a woman in 2017.

AceShowbiz - Going on a long hiatus didn't make Pink lose her touch. As soon as she released her new effort entitled "Beautiful Trauma" on October 13, the set earned her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, racking up 408,000 equivalent album units in the first week of its release.

"Beautiful Trauma" also marked the biggest debut for a woman since Beyonce Knowles' "Lemonade" debuted at No. 1 with 652,000 units on May 14, 2016. In addition, the set has the biggest sales week among all albums since Drake's "Views" arrived with 852,000 units on May 21, 2016.

The fact that she managed to earn second No. 1 album might be boosted by how the 38-year old singer has never chased pop music trends and prefers to be honest and show her real feelings through her songs. For example, she talks about her temporary split with her husband Carey Hart in her song entitled "So What", resulting in the song becoming the most successful track in her album "Funhouse".

The "Just Give Me a Reason" hitmaker also did that in "Beautiful Trauma". For instance, instead of releasing an EDM song, which is currently in trend, she chose to release a calmer song "What About Us" that expressed her thoughts on the current social issues. In one of the lines, she talks about how someone becomes disillusioned with the political process.

A dominant live performer, Pink is set to embark on a world tour in 2018 in support of "Beautiful Trauma". The tour will kick off in Phoenix on March 1 and wrap up in Los Angeles on June 2.
