The stalker allegedly sent the 'Les Miserables' actor love letters, hung around his house and even spied on him when he was getting undressed.

AceShowbiz - Eddie Redmayne has been dealing with an obsessed fan in the past few years. The actor claims that a woman named Gaby Stieger stalked him for more than five years, a court has heard. The 49-year-old woman was allegedly convinced that she had been married to the actor in the previous life. It was also reported that her face would "contort with rage" when speaking about Redmayne's wife Hannah Bagshawe.
In a note he wrote, which was read in Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court, Redmayne stated, "I always try to be open and friendly as support (from fans) is what gives me a career. I deeply regret having met Gaby Stieger--she harassed myself and my family intermittently over five years, leaving us distressed, unsafe and deeply unsettled."
According to the 35-year-old actor, the mother-of-two would appear out of his house "out of nowhere--observing me and my family without us knowing." He added, "The safety of my family is everything to me and with her behavior we can't feel safe."
Stieger began stalking Redmayne after they met in a play at the Donmar Warehouse theatre, London in 2012. She repeatedly loitered outside the Oscar winner's house in Southwark and sent him love letters. She was even believed to be spying on the English actor when he was getting undressed. Last month, she attempted to touch his arm while he was carrying his newborn baby.
During the court, Magistrate Novello Noades, chairwoman of the bench, said, "This is a very serious offense--which took place over a period of five years. There was significant planning involved, you moved from Germany to London to be near the victim. You obtained work in the film industry and near victim's home in order to be in proximity to him. He told you he was distressed but you ignored him."
Stieger admitted one count of stalking involving serious alarm in the court a few days ago. She was sentenced to four months imprisonment which was suspended for two years. Additionally, the German woman was banned from having any contact with or coming within 200 meters of Redmayne and his family.
