Despite official announcement confirming his return, the Batman villain might not be seen in the upcoming DC movie.

AceShowbiz - Jesse Eisenberg might not reprise his role as Lex Luthor in the "Justice League" movie which is due November 17 stateside. Rumor has it, he doesn't have a role in the film despite the official announcement confirming his return to the DC Extended Universe.
This sparked rumors that the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" main baddie has been cut from the movie. "He doesn't have one. If he did prior to all the changes/reshoots, it was cut," Batman on Film said during a qustion and answer.
"Justice League" was originally helmed by Zack Snyder but it underwent reshoots under the direction of Joss Whedon who was initially recruited by Warner Brothers to sit behind the lens for "Batgirl". Snyder left after her daughter committed suicide.
"In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it," he said back then. "The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I've come to the realization ... I've decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I'm having a hard time."
According to reports, Whedon gave "Justice League" a new ending. The DC superhero film originally had a huge cliffhanger that was supposed to tease the big bad guy for the next installment, but it's been scrapped during an "extensive" overhaul.
The movie initially had Darkseid descending to earth. However, the looming threat of Darkseid was downplayed. "Wonder Woman" star Robin Wright was brought in for a flashback explaining Steppenwolf's origins without blatantly showing the arrival of his master on the earth.
Ben Affleck who plays Batman weighed in on the director change. "It's a little bit unorthodox," he said. "Zack had a family tragedy, and stepped off, which was horrible. For the movie, the best person we could've possibly found was Joss. We got really lucky that he stepped in."
The actor called the "Justice League" film "an interesting product of two directors, both with kind of unique visions, both with really strong takes." He added, "I've never had that experience before making a movie. I have to say, I really love working with Zack, and I really love the stuff we've done with Joss."
