The wait is over! Ahead of its Saturday, July 22 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, SyFy has released the first teaser trailer of highly-anticipated series "Krypton" for viewing pleasure. The epic teaser offers the first look at the doomed home planet of Superman and promises lots of breathtaking all-out action.

"In 2018, discover the lineage of a legend," the teaser's tagline opens the video dramatically, followed by some astonishing scenes. A lavish Kryptonian spacecraft is seen speeding through space. The teaser also gives a glimpse of some of key characters on the show.

"The blood of House El is what will always bind us together," a voice can be heard saying as a scene of someone cutting himself and dropping his blood into an S-shield flickers on the screen. Although it is unclear who delivers the line, fans assume that it is Seg-El (Cameron Cuffle), the Man of Steel's grandfather.

The series is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel's home planet. "Krypton" follows Superman's grandfather-whose House of El was ostracized and shamed-as he fights to redeem his family's honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

The prequel of "Superman" hails from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer ("Man of Steel", "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "The Dark Knight" trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner. Damian Kindler ("Sleepy Hollow") will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

The cast includes Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo and Rasmus Hardiker. Also starring on the series are Wallis Day, Aaron Pierre and Ian McElhinney.

"Krypton" is scheduled to hit the small screen sometime in 2018.
