Another series is being canceled by Netflix. The streaming giant has opted not to renew freshman comedy series "Girlboss" for a sophomore season. Sophia Amoruso, who wrote the book on which the series was based, shared the news on Instagram Story.
"So that Netflix series about my life got canceled," she wrote on Saturday night, June 24. "While I'm proud of the work we did, I'm looking forward to controlling my narrative from here on out. It was a good show and I was privileged to work with incredible talent, but living my life as a caricature was hard even if only for two months," she added.
"Yes, I can be difficult. No, I'm not a d**k. No, someone named Shane never cheated on me. It will be nice to someday tell the story of what's happened in the last few years. Ppl read the headline, not the correction, I've learned," the author concluded.
"Girlboss" followed Sophia (Britt Robertson), a rebellious, broke anarchist who began selling vintage clothes on eBay. By the age of 28, she had built the multi-million dollar fashion empire, Nasty Gal.
"Girlboss", which also starred Ellie Reed, debuted last April to mixed reviews. The 13-episode series was written/executive produced by "Pitch Perfect" writer Kay Cannon with Christian Ditter directing.
"Girlboss" joins the Wachowski sisters' "Sense8", which was canned by the streamer after two seasons. Another recently-canceled big budget series was Baz Luhrman's freshman series "The Get Down".
