"Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise has earned mixed reviews since the first movie's release in 2015 and recent strong response was surprisingly came from one of its directors. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Sam Taylor-Johnson, who directed the first "Fifty Shades" movie, expressed her disappointment over the flick and said that she wouldn't do it again.

"With the benefit of hindsight would I go through it again? Of course I wouldn't. I'd be mad," said Taylor-Johnson. "It was a struggle and there were lots of onset tete-a-tetes, with me trying to bat it into the [right] place," she added.

Furthermore, there were some clashes between Taylor-Johnson and "Fifty Shades" author E.L. James in the past, which seemingly fueled her disappointment over the movie. "I like everyone-and I get really confused when they don't like me. I was so confused by E.L. James. I don't understand when I can't navigate a person, when there's no synergy," Taylor-Johnson said.

The director quit the franchise after helming the first movie and admitted that she wouldn't be interested in watching its sequels, "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed". "I'm not going to ever watch them. I have literally zero interest," said Taylor-Johnson.

Back in 2015, "Fifty Shades of Grey" grossed $560 million worldwide, while "Darker" nabbed $378.8 million globally in 2017. "Fifty Shades of Freed", meanwhile, is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on Valentine's Day 2018 and will see the returns of Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan .
