The 35-year-old businesswoman receives backlash after she told people to 'make champagne popsicles' on Memorial Day instead of remembering those who have fought and died for the country.

AceShowbiz - Ivanka Trump was criticized after posting an insensitive tweet on her brand's official Twitter account on Sunday, May 28. The tweet was seen as disrespectful toward men and women who fought and died for the country while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

"Make champagne popsicles this #MemorialDay," the tweet read. A link to an article on Ivanka's official website was included. The article listed some ways to spend Memorial Day like having a picnic, hosting a barbeque feast, enjoying some music and drinking champagne popsicle.

Many Twitter users immediately slammed the Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry founder. "Ivanka, this is my father. He served 6 tours in Vietnam and doesn't give a f**k about your champagne popsicles today," a user tweeted. "My father did not spend two years in service to America so you could use a day of remembrance for fallen soldiers as a BRANDING OPPORTUNITY," another added. A user also tweeted a meme to mock her failure to honor the day properly.

Hours after the controversial tweet, Ivanka took to her personal Twitter account to share what she thought about Memorial Day. "Today we honor the men & women in our armed forces who have lost their lives to protect our freedom. Thank you for your service #MemorialDay," she wrote.

However, people didn't seem to believe that her tweet was sincere and replied to it with various sarcastic memes.
