A new preview for "Nashville" season 5B has been released to tide fans over the show's return. Offering glimpses of scenes from the new episodes, the video introduces some fresh faces and teases new music.
Rachel Bilson's Alyssa Greene is introduced by Zach during a meeting as the new chief strategy officer of Highway 65. EP Marshall Herskovitz says of the character, "She's a complete fish out of water, which is not something we've seen in the show very often."
As for Kaitlin Doubleday, she plays Jessie Caine, a singer/songwriter who left town after a big scandal years ago. "She had a career and had a life, but it blew up in a way I can't talk about" for fear of spoiling the story, Herskovitz reveals. She's also got a son who was taken from her.
Jessie will appear first in the show's 100th episode, followed by Alyssa in a later episode.
"Nashville" returns with the remainder of the fifth season on June 1 at 9/8c on CMT. The music drama series has been renewed for a shortened season 6, which will consist of 16 episodes.
