In the featurette, director James Gunn says that while the first movie is about 'becoming a family,' the sequel will be about 'being a family.'

AceShowbiz - Marvel has dropped "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" featurette ahead of its release schedule in May. The featurette shows the sneak peeks from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel as well as cool behind-the-scenes shots, which offer a better look at the production process.

In the video, director James Gunn suggests that the movie will allow fans to have more insights into the characters. "The primary thing with this sequel is really about getting to know the characters in a deeper way," says Gunn. "It's really about getting to know Star-Lord and Gamora and Baby Groot and Rocket and Drax," he adds.

Gunn also reveals that there will be more Guardians who join Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) original team line-up. "We have Yondu [and] Nebula is a new Guardian to some extent and Mantis," says Gunn. Nebula's depicter Karen Gillan teases that she will team up with the Guardians because they're kinda on the same page in the second movie.

While the first movie is about "becoming a family," Gunn says that the sequel will be about "being a family." The featurette then shows a snippet in which Star-Lord meets his father Ego (Kurt Russell). "I'm your dad, Peter," Ego says. There are also scenes in which Gamora (Zoe Saldana) tries to fix her relationship with her sister Nebula.

Set to the backdrop of "Awesome Mixtape #2", Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Also starring Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Baby Groot), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis), the movie is set to be released in the U.S. on May 5.
