As the filming of "The Punisher" is currently underway, more insights into the titular character have surfaced online. The latest set photos from New York City filming set show that Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle is presumably still recovering from injuries sustained on "Daredevil" season 2.
The new photos obtained by Getty Images see Jon's Frank Castle/The Punisher sporting bruises and cuts on his face, seemingly after taking a beating. Donning a black hoodie jacket, Jon is filming the series by a black car and later is seen sitting in a driver seat.

Jon previously revealed that "The Punisher" would follow Frank who is in his early struggle days into vigilantism prior to his gritty journey to become the titular character. "I think when you're talking about characters like these, the way they fight, what's motivating the fight is very important," said Jon.
He added, "Beating someone up to drag them into jail is different than someone who is exercising his rage on people. The Frank Castle you find in this story is not The Punisher. He's reeling from the loss of his family. He's driven by rage and is on a singular mission to find these people who took his family from him, and do it as brutally as possible."
Jon is joined on "The Punisher" by Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Paige), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Paul Schulze (Nurse Jackie), Jaime Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Micro). The series is expected to bow sometime this year on Netflix.
