Kerry Washington to Voice Super Smart Red Sports Car in 'Cars 3'
Movie

The 'Scandal' actress will lend her voice to Natalie Certain, a red sports car which is also a new member of Lightning McQueen's speedy crew.

AceShowbiz - Kerry Washington will voice one of the new characters in Disney-Pixar's "Cars 3". The "Scandal" actress will lend her voice to the movie as Natalie Certain, a super smart red sports car and a new member of Lightning McQueen's (Owen Wilson) speedy crew.

"She is a super-smarty-pants statistician," Washington tells PEOPLE about her character. "She reminds of a statistical analyst on cable news or SportsCenter. She knows everything there is to know about the ins and outs of statistics when it comes to racing."

Despite voicing a fast-driving character in "Cars 3", Washington admits that she is not really skilled in driving on the real road. "I was about 22 [when I learned to drive]," she says. "I forced myself to do it because I was moving to L.A. I drive a little bit like an 85-year-old. I sit really straight, hands at 10 and 2, and always use a signal. It's pretty hilarious," she adds.

Washington suggests that the best part of doing voice-over work is she doesn't have to hide her growing belly. "Over at 'Scandal', I had so much stress about how to adjust my growing belly," Washington says. "But for 'Cars', I could roll up as is and not worry about hiding it."

"Cars 3" follows an aging Lightning McQueen who has to struggle to join future competition with much younger racing cars. Besides Washington, new cast members who will lend their voices to the new characters in the movie include Armie Hammer (Jackson Storm), Cristela Alonzo (Cruz Ramirez), Nathan Fillion (Stirling) and Lea DeLaria (Miss Fritter). Larry the Cable Guy and Bonnie Hunt will return as Mater and Sally respectively.
